Divers Alert Network (DAN) is the primary safety organization for the
dive community. DAN provides medical information, emergency medical
assistance, and insurance. DAN instructors provide specialized first
aid courses for the public.
- The DAN Oxygen First Aid for
Scuba
Diving Injuries (Scuba Oxygen) course helps participants to
learn the
signs, symptoms, response, and management of major diving injuries. The
course is designed to
provide entry-level training to the general public in the recognition
of possible dive-related
injuries and in the techniques of using oxygen as first aid for
suspected dive-related injuries. The
course is NOT designed to train individuals how to provide oxygen to
the general public.
- The DAN Advanced Oxygen First
Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries (Advanced Scuba Oxygen) course
helps divers and other interested parties learn to provide advanced
oxygen care using bag valve masks and manually-triggered power
ventilators.
- The DAN Automated External
Defibrillators for Scuba Diving (Scuba AED) course helps divers
and other
interested parties learn to provide care for cardiac arrests using an
automated external
difibrillator (AED).
- The DAN Automated External
Difibrillators for Aquatic Emergencies (Aquatics AED) course
helps
participants to learn to provide care for cardiac arrests using an
automated external difibrillator
(AED).
- The DAN First Aid for Hazardous
Marine Life Injuries (HMLI) course helps participants learn
proper first aid response for envenomations, bites, irritations, and
seafood poisoning.
The
Diving Emergency Management
Provider (DEMP) course is an integrated training program that
includes the Scuba Oxygen, HMLI, and Scuba AED courses with an option
to add Advanced Scuba Oxygen as well. Designed for those who want
comprehensive training and skill development for dive emergencies, this
is the course for you. This is a particularly good course for rescue
divers, divemasters, and dive instructors.
